Fabian Dattner conceived and co-founded Homeward Bound with Dr Jess Melbourne-Thomas. Dattner Grant is donating the project management, the leadership content of the program and support from the Dattner Grant team. The Australian Antarctic Division is providing In-kind support to the science program of Homeward Bound.
Homeward Bound is largely self-funded, with each participant contributing towards the cost of travel and accommodation on the boat — as well as their own time.
We are currently approaching a range of other funding sources to offset the $US30,000 per person cost of the program. The primary cost, in excess of the normal cost of a trip to Antarctica, is for the three programs that will be delivered on board, the on board faculty, global filmed faculty, project materials, and documentary costs.
The Governor of Tasmania, Her Excellency, Professor Kate Warner, is a patron for the project.
We are incredibly grateful to the large, diverse, and talented team that are personally and corporately sponsoring Homeward Bound!
