Homward Bound is committed to providing quality services to you and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you in respect of how we manage your Personal Information.

What is ‘personal information’ and why do we collect it?
Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual. Examples of Personal Information we collect include: names, addresses, email addresses, phone and facsimile numbers.
This Personal Information is obtained in many ways including interviews, correspondence, by telephone and facsimile, by email, via our website www.homewardboundprojects.com.au, from your website, from media and publications, from other publicly available sources and from third parties. We don’t guarantee website links or policy of authorised third parties.
We collect your Personal Information for the primary purpose of providing our services to you, providing information to our clients and marketing. We may also use your Personal Information for secondary purposes closely related to the primary purpose, in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure. You may unsubscribe from our mailing/marketing lists at any time by contacting us in writing.
When we collect Personal Information we will, where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.
Sensitive information
Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record or health information.
Sensitive information will be used by me only:
- For the primary purpose for which it was obtained
- For a secondary purpose that is directly related to the primary purpose

Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such cases we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

Homeward Bound may disclose Personal Information to third parties, such as contractors, agents and service providers, to assist us with our activities and the provision of our services. In doing so, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that these organisations are bound by obligations of confidentiality and privacy in order to protect your Personal Information in accordance with the Privacy Act.

Security of personal information
Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information. However, most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.
Access to your personal information
You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.
Homeward Bound will not charge any fee for your access request but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information.
In order to protect your Personal Information, we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information. Homeward Bound will respond to a request for Personal Information as soon as reasonably practicable.
Maintaining the quality of your personal information
It is an important to me that your Personal Information is up to date. we will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update my records and ensure we can continue to provide quality services to you.

For statistical purposes, Homeward Bound may collect information through the use of ‘cookies’ on website activity (including the number of users who visit our website, date and time of your visit to the website, the pages accessed and any information downloaded, navigation patterns, the country and systems through which users have accessed the website).
Cookies are data that a website transfers to an individual’s hard drive for record-keeping purposes. Cookies can facilitate a user’s ongoing access to and use of a website and may be necessary to access features such as online transactions.
While Homeward Bound takes great care to protect your personal information on my website and use state-of-the-art data transmission encryption, unfortunately no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Accordingly, Homeward Bound cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information that you send to me or receive from me online. This is particularly true for information you send to Homeward Bound via email. We have no way of protecting that information until it reaches us. Once we receive your transmission, we use our best efforts to ensure its security in my possession.
Our website may contain links or plug-ins to third party websites. The use of your information by those third party websites is not within the control of Homeward Bound and we cannot accept responsibility for the conduct of those companies.
Homeward Bound’s responsibilities under EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Homeward Bound collects, uses and stores your Personal Data to enable us to provide you with goods or services and information about them. We rely on the following lawful means of processing your Personal Data:
- Where it is necessary to fulfil a contract with you. This includes where Homeward Bound collects your Personal Data to enable us to send you our goods or provide you with our services
- Where you have given us valid consent to use your Personal Data. We will rely on that consent and only use the Personal Data for the specific purpose for which you have given consent. This includes where we email newsletters or send mobile phone notifications
- We may also process your Personal Data where it is to further our legitimate interests which could include usage statistics, analytics and internal analysis so we can improve my services to you

For example, if it is necessary to comply with an independent legal obligation or if it is necessary to do so to protect my legitimate interest in keeping our services secure.
Our compliance
Homeward Bound complies with the GDPR protection directives set out by the EU and UK regarding the collection, use and retention of Personal Data from EU member countries and the UK. All Personal Data stored on my platform is treated as confidential. It is stored securely and is only accessed by authorised personnel. Our collection is limited in relation to what is necessary, for the purpose for which the Personal Data is processed, and kept only for so long as is necessary for the purpose for which the Personal Data was collected. We implement and maintain appropriate technical, security and organisational measures to protect Personal Data against unauthorised or unlawful processing or use, and against accidental loss, destruction, damage, theft or disclosure. We ensure the encryption and pseudonymisation of Personal Data and we have adequate cybersecurity measures in place.
Your acknowledgement
By providing Homeward Bound with your Personal Data, you consent to us disclosing it to third parties who reside outside the EU or UK. We will ensure that those third parties are GDPR compliant.
