Amanda is a mechanical engineer with a particular interest in sustainable energy production and use. Amanda is a specialist in commissioning machinery and troubleshooting issues with operating machinery, particularly in liquified natural gas plants.
With her interest in making these sites more sustainable, she initiated projects to significantly reduce emissions from site machinery for the remainder of the site’s operating life. Amanda now works with IP Australia (the Australian Government agency that administers intellectual property rights and associated legislation in Australia) and is responsible for assessing applications for mechanical engineering patents. She has a keen interest in fostering innovation in the sustainable energy field.
Amanda enjoys communicating complex technical concepts to those from a wide range of backgrounds, including those with limited science or engineering experience. She is passionate about mentoring younger women who are interested in a STEMM career. She continues to support young women throughout their STEMM careers, helping them to set goals and access opportunities. Amanda enjoys sailing, open water swimming, growing her own vegetables and camping.
