At age 10, Amelia decided to become a marine biologist and eventually studied marine biology at Flinders University. After university, she lived in Johannesburg and Amsterdam, working for NGOs. When she returned to Australia, she joined the public service and enjoyed working on marine policy for 12 years at the state and federal level. Amelia has a particular interest in the interaction of science and policy. In 2018 she joined CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency where she now manages a climate science research program. Amelia loves Jane Austen, she thinks science is awesome and finds joy and a sense of wonder from the little things around her – a vibrant sunset, a sparkling sea or watching her daughters sing and dance.
