ANDREA PARISI

PhD Candidate, National Centre for Epidemiology & Population Health, Australian National University
Canberra, ACT, Czech
Dr Andrea Parisi is a Canberra-based researcher focussing on the epidemiology of invasive and multi-drug resistant Salmonella infections. She tutors medical students and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She completed her medical degree in the Czech Republic and has undertaken internships in France, Spain, Thailand, USA and Vietnam. These experiences made her aware of the health inequalities and the necessity to adopt a One Health approach, considering the role of changing environments with regard to infectious and chronic disease risks. She believes that it is crucial for good research to be translated into policy and practice, the reason why she is looking for leadership roles in organisations actively involved in shaping health policy.
