Brigid Hartnett
(She/Her)
Occupational Therapist Supervisor
Brigid is a curious Occupational Therapist who is looking to utilise leadership to enact change in public health and global wellbeing. Working across Australia and London has allowed her to observe first-hand how different healthcare models and governments systems can support and impact people with disabilities and health conditions.
During her career Brigid has been drawn towards developing solutions to help overcome barriers that occur within healthcare services. Brigid advocates that best practice should be the guiding star when making decisions and creating efficient systems which support effective communication is essential. Supporting societies and communities to become not only environmentally inclusive but also attitudinally and socially inclusive of people with disabilities and complex health conditions is her passion.
Brigid wishes to be involved in creating a world where everyday citizens feel a sense of willing responsibility to build and support the creation of inclusive spaces for all people. Fundamentally, however, Brigid’s core belief is that even with an increase in physical accessibility, the key to supporting a better future for all people is in community development and the development of a future generation. Specifically, advocating for education, the development of resilience and the ability to think critically about the world around them. These important skills will help reduce the invisible barriers that people with disabilities and complex health conditions face daily.
Leadership creates clarity and Brigid hopes that being a part of the Homeward Bound Project she can develop the skills to not only become an innovative leader but to also assist those around her to be leaders.
