Cara undertook her PhD studies in Physical Chemistry at the University of Melbourne, developing electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries. She is currently a materials research scientist at CSIRO Manufacturing. Her current research efforts are to develop cutting-edge materials used for the benefit of the environment including sensors for toxic water systems, energy storage devices and membranes for fuel cells in electric cars. Cara is passionate about communicating her science to the wider community and is keen to cultivate the natural curiosity of young kids to ensure that their interest in how the world works continues throughout their lives.
