Catherine Wheller
Communications Manager at The National Youth Science Forum
Living in Victoria, Australia
Dr Catherine Wheller trained as an Earth Scientist specialising in investigating the history of the Earth’s crust using microscopic mineral assemblages in rocks (with a particular soft spot for southern Madagascar). This knack for telling a story through scientific discovery extended beyond her research and Catherine has since helped organisations such as the Natural History Museum in London communicate their research to policymakers and other stakeholders. As such, she is a competent analyst across a variety of scientific fields including emerging technologies; global health; and earth systems.
Catherine’s largest passion lies in increasing scientific literacy in the Australian public; since arriving back in Melbourne, Australia in 2021 she has joined the National Youth Science Forum to deliver real-life science application into the Australian high school experience. Engagement with learners and upcoming STEMM enthusiasts is a particular thrill, and she throws herself into any opportunity to teach and engage.
