Claire is a science communicator with extensive experience developing and facilitating hands-on science experiences for audiences in both formal and informal education environments. She is passionate about supporting people from underrepresented groups strengthen their capacity, confidence and connections in STEM.
Originally from the UK, Claire studied for a degree in Geography and Geology at the University of Manchester before undertaking a teaching assistant position at the University of Sheffield whilst completing her Ph.D. and Postdoctoral studies investigating biogeochemical cycling in Arctic glacial and periglacial environments.
In 2012, Claire emigrated to Australia where she worked as an exploration geologist before completing her Graduate Diploma in Education and finding work as a senior learning and engagement officer at a science centre. Claire has recently moved to a new role where she will be coordinating the Accelerating Women in METs (Mining, Engineering and Technology Sector) programme which aims to enhance the career opportunities for female STEM students and graduates.
