Claire Reymond is passionate about marine biodiversity, conservation, and ocean governance. She holds a PhD in Marine Palaeoecology from the University of Queensland and has further honed her expertise in Australian Environmental Law and Compliance from the Chartered Institute.
Claire has held several influential positions, including Research Fellow at the University of Sydney and interim Workgroup Leader at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research in Germany. As a councillor for the Australian Coral Reef Society, she is dedicated to advancing diversity and equality in science.
Claire’s research focuses on understanding coastal marine resilience to climate change. She has been a leading researcher on several large, multi-disciplinary projects, including the Sustainable Use of Tropical Aquatic Systems, Reverse Proteomics for Biodiversity, and Ocean Governance for Sustainability. Her contributions are widely recognised, with over 30 scientific publications and awards from prestigious organisations such as the Australian Biological Resources Study, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Sydney Environment Institute, and the Ocean Impact Organisation.
Claire strives to enhance marine policies and legal frameworks to protect the oceans and the communities that depend on them. Her deep commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability extends into her free time, where she enjoys nature bathing, yoga, and the performing arts.
