CLAUDIA KIELKOPF

PhD candidate, University of Wollongong
NSW, Australia, originally Germany
Claudia studied Biochemistry in Germany and Medical Biology in Sweden before she moved all across the globe to Wollongong, Australia to start a PhD. At the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute, she investigates apolipoprotein-D, a protein which protects from Alzheimer’s disease. Bridging between protein and lipid biochemistry, she works on the structure and function of apolipoprotein-D to understand the interplay both of them. Along her personal journey, Claudia was inspired by strong female scientists to advocate for women in science and in leading positions herself. While passionate about her work, Claudia also enjoys climbing and swimming in the ocean.
