DANIELLE MEDEK

House Officer, Waitemata District Health Board
Auckland, New Zealand
Danielle is a physician trainee, with interests linking environment and health. Danielle’s PhD from the Australian National University focussed on leaf anatomy and climate tolerance of subantarctic plants. She subsequently completed a medical degree, focussing on Indigenous health. Her medical school hayfever research project opened the doors to an international collaboration on airborne pollen and allergy. In a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard, she identified a global risk of dietary protein deficiency under elevated CO2, driven by changes to crop quality. Currently a junior doctor in Auckland, she is part of the AusPollen collaboration, developing an Australia-wide clinically-targeted pollen monitoring network.
