She is responsible for identifying commercial opportunities in offshore renewable energy generation and decarbonisation initiatives, managing the Business Development team, and establishing new business streams.
Before this role, Dernis served as the Marine Energy Development Manager at EMEC, leading proposal developments for offshore renewable energy projects and engaging with new technology developers. Her career also includes significant roles at Energía Marina SpA/MERIC in Santiago, Chile, where she supported project divisions and coordinated business strategies from 2015 to 2020.
Dernis holds a PhD in Oceanography from Universidad de Concepción, Chile, and a degree in Oceanographic Sciences from Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has been recognized with the “Women of the Year 2020” award by the Chilean Ministry of Energy.
