Environmental biologist and environmental scientist (UAM), Edith has nearly 20 years of experience in construction sector. Currently she works as head of sustainability at the construction business of ACCIONA, located in Madrid, leading an interdisciplinary team working on the development and the implementation of the sustainability strategy and sustainability master plan in the construction business. Circular Economy specialist in the construction sector, and expert in life cycle assessment of construction processes, she has developed different environmental technologies to reduce environmental footprint of construction processes and she also works as an independent expert evaluator of innovation proposals for the European Commission. She is a lifelong learner, and she is currently studying an MBA (EOI) and a PhD in Sustainability (UPC) and last year she studied a Master’s degree in competitive social transformation (UCM). She is algo part of the external advisory panel of the recently launched in Spain Master’s degree in Circular Engineering (UC3) Her main purpose at profesional level is transforming construction sector into a more sustainable one, pushing to find scientific solutions and technologies for positive environmental and social impact She participates in different women associations in Spain (AMIT-MIT and WAS among others) where she can find inspiring role models of women working in science and sustainability. Mother of two children aged 7 and 4 years old, she loves to spend time with her family enjoying nature and promoting sustainable ways of living.
