ELISABETH (LIZ) DESCHASEAUX
Research Fellow at Centre for Coastal Biogeochemistry, Southern Cross University
Elisabeth is a marine scientist working on dimethyl sulfide (DMS) in coral reefs, a sulfur gas that can influence the Earth’s climate. She completed her undergraduate degree in France and her Honours and PhD in Australia. A few years ago, she started campaigning against plastic pollution in the ocean, becoming nearly plastic-free herself and volunteering for several associations in Australia and Costa Rica to gain a better understanding on how to start an NGO and contribute to conservation in a more active way. Her goal is to implement changes to protect our ocean while creating better opportunities for local communities.
