President and Founder at BLiSS Science and Innovation inc
Living in New South Wales, Australia
In 2011, Dr fLorence Cotel cycled from the line of Equator in Ecuador to the most-Southern point of South America, Ushuaia. This was only four years after she sat on a saddle for the very first time. If she is asked to describe herself, she answers she’s a challenge hunter, a lover of contemporary art and complexity in all its shapes and a realistic optimist. She has already tackled many complex challenges and does not intend to stop. Dr fLorence Cotel is a neuroscientist, entrepreneur, endurance athlete and inspirational speaker.
After completing a PhD in Neuroscience from the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris, she worked in Denmark and Australia for some of the highest-ranked universities in the world. During that time, she unravelled the first cellular mechanism of central fatigue, which was featured in the news worldwide. In 2016, she founded BLiSS Science and Innovation inc, a non-profit organisation that catalyses cross-boundary collaborations between research partners to empower them to tackle real-world problems together. Her passion for collaborative leadership was ignited by the decade she volunteered for the French Red Cross as an emergency responder and later fuelled by her aspiration to help neuroscientists and psychiatrists team up to tackle mental health issues. As a neuroscientist, fLorence believes that we can train our brains to achieve anything. She uses her extensive experience in public speaking and personal anecdotes to inspire girls to dream big and realise their dreams.
