Lead Principal Sustainability Engineer
Gemma is a Lead Principal Sustainability Engineer, with over 8 years experience in engineering and construction. Gemma started her career as a Civil Structural Engineer working on live construction sites and in structural design roles. She became chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2020. Gemma has had a passion and enthusiasm for the natural world and sustainability since high school, seeking out opportunities to learn and incorporate sustainability into her work and life. In 2020 she was able to combine her engineering and construction expertise with her love of sustainability in her current role as Lead Principal Sustainability Engineer. She has since built a team of talented Sustainability Engineers around her, and developed new tools and company wide strategies to drive towards a net zero future in construction. Gemma supports projects through her indepth knowledge of technical engineering design, design processes, relationships with the supply chain and knowledge of low carbon solutions. She particularly enjoys communicating complex problems and solutions to clients and project teams.
Outside of work Gemma is a keen boulderer and what she lacks in natural climbing talent she tries to make up for in sheer determination! Gemma enjoys getting out in nature regularly visiting the Lake District, and spending time with family, friends and two cats.
