Helen is a research scientist who completed her PhD in Canada in plant ecology and has been based at CSIRO’s Tropical Forest Research Centre in Atherton, North Queensland for the past 13 years. Helen’s current research is centred on the understanding and management of threats to Australian biodiversity. She leads project teams and research groups whose goal is to deliver science that directly supports decision making that affects biodiversity and strengthens understanding of the effectiveness of policy and management interventions. Helen recently co-authored the Australian State of the Environment Report 2016 and is inspired to collaborate with other women to improve the outlook for biodiversity in the future.
