Irene Tierney is the Director and Principal Ecologist at IMT Ltd, an ecological consultancy whose main clients are the renewables industry, and she is a lecturer in Environmental Sciences at Abertay University, Dundee. She is currently working on multiple Environmental Impact Assessment projects within her consultancy role.
Her background extends to botany, peatland habitats, groundwater-dependent terrestrial ecosystems, and previously in disease resistance gene research in crop plants, and teaching in molecular biology and biotechnology disciplines. She is involved as a committee member for the Scotland Policy Group and the Academia Special Interest Group, both of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). Irene is inspired and thrilled to be part of Team HB7, working to promote women in STEMM and their leadership roles in creating positive global change.
