Iryna is an Associate Professor at UC Berkeley, jointly appointed in two Departments – Environmental Science, Policy and Management and Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning. She is passionate about using science and geospatial analysis platforms to address complex environmental issues across different decision scales, help future landscape designers become more effective environmental stewards, and to increase the representation of women in the applied landscape sciences and profession. She grew up in Ukraine, where she became interested in environmental issues of human-dominated landscapes and obtained her BSc in Ecology. She also holds a MS in Natural Resources/Terrestrial Ecosystems, a Certificate in Spatial Analysis from the University of Michigan and a PhD in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from the University of California Berkeley. In her spare hours, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, birdwatching and nature photography.
