JANA SCHNIETE

Postdoctoral Researcher, Leibniz University Hannover
German living in Germany
Jana is an experienced molecular microbiologist with a keen interest in understanding bacterial metabolism and physiology as well as their evolution in both ecological and industrial settings. Her research focusses on actinobacteria using sequencing and metabolomic analysis tools. Previously, she ventured into the world of bioimaging and finding applications for newly established super resolution techniques.
She has lived in Germany, Argentina, Spain, Mexico and the UK, she is trilingual and enjoys new cultures and thinks that key to being a scientist is to communicate about it. She is also a mother and thus wants to inspire future generations. Taking part in Homeward Bound has enabled her to learn how to increase women’s impact on tackling climate change and pollution, and build up valuable leadership skills.
