Jane Usher
Senior Scientist at University of Exeter
Living in United Kingdom
Jane is a fungal biologist based at the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology in the UK. She is passionate about all thing’s fungi, the good, the bad and the ugly. She completed her PhD in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland looking at the structure of yeast genomes during fermentation, learning the life skill of brewing before moving to Ottawa, Canada to work on improving yeast strains for use in biofuel production. Jane’s research is now focused on human fungal pathogens and how they evolve drug resistance and are able to successfully evade the host immune response to cause disease.
When not in the lab, Jane can be found rambling along the many coastal paths in Devon or seeking out some live music.
