Program Manager, Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future (SAEF).
Program Manager, Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future (SAEF), ARC Special Research Initiative in Excellence in Antarctic Science, Monash University, Australian. I am an experienced and committed leader in the Higher Education Sector having held leadership roles in the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. My experience includes leadership and management responsibilities across complex and diverse STEM teaching and research entities within the university, encompassing day to day operations, strategic planning and implementation, governance and compliance frameworks and business continuity management. Since 2020 I have been the SAEF Program Manager. SAEF is an Australia-based, international research program delivering interdisciplinary science to forecast environmental change across Antarctica, the Southern Ocean and the sub-Antarctic islands. SAEF has over 100 Researchers and our Program Partners include 24 National and International University and Partner Organisations and 6 National Polar Programs. I lead a team of Professional Staff from three Universities, to support and enable the Program. I have a background in Science and really enjoy working closely with the Leadership Team and Researchers to enable the work they do. I also have a particular interest in and focus on the development of professional staff – research, technical and administrative, across all employment levels. Staff in these roles are so critical to the success of every research program but are often invisible and don’t ask for much. I have been, and continue to be a strategic voice and champion for professional staff and their development.
