Karin is Executive Dean of the School of Computing Technologies at RMIT University, Deputy Director of the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Cognitive Computing in Medical Technologies, and a co-founder of the Australian Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare. Trained as a computational linguist at the University of Edinburgh, Karin works at the intersection of technology, science, and medicine, and believes that her computational, data science, and AI skills are critical for addressing humanity’s biggest challenges. Born in Senegal in West Africa to Dutch parents, raised in America, married to a Spaniard, and living in Australia, she is mom to three girls, each with three passports, two languages, and a world of opportunities.
