Karin is a Professor in the School of Computing and Information Systems and Deputy Director of the Health and Biomedical Informatics Centre at the University of Melbourne. Trained as a computational linguist at the University of Edinburgh, Karin works at the intersection of technology, science, and medicine, and believes that her computational and data science skills are critical for addressing humanity’s biggest challenges. Born in Senegal in West Africa to Dutch parents, raised in America, married to a Spaniard, and living in Australia, she is mom to three girls, each with three passports, two languages, and a world of opportunities.
