Kate Helmstedt
Australian Mathematician
Kate Helmstedt is an award-winning Australian mathematician driven by a desire to understand and protect species and ecosystems. She is an Associate Professor at QUT where she leads a research group of mathematical ecologists and data scientists. Protecting important, fragile, threatened ecosystems is a huge challenge that requires collaboration from a wide range of scientific fields, and Kate is proud to bring mathematics and data science to the table. She’s a strong advocate for women in mathematics and STEM, believing that there’s a place for everyone in impact-driven science.
