Environmental Engineer, Australia Katie is one of Australia’s first qualified environmental engineers and has dedicated her career to incorporating sustainability and environmental considerations into the design, construction and operation of industrial facilities in Australia.
Katie’s extensive field-based and management experience includes leading the environmental team overseeing the construction and commissioning of Australia’s largest resource development project and ensuring the sustainable design of Australia’s first proposed subsea factory. She was also the Environment Manager for Alcoa’s Wagerup alumina refinery and one of the first of its site-based management team to take maternity leave (which she did three times).
Passionate about the need to decarbonise Australia’s energy intensive industries and accelerate the transition to renewable energy, Katie is now leveraging her extensive offshore and onshore experience to facilitate the environmentally responsible development of Australia’s emerging offshore wind industry. As a recent addition to the Australian leadership team of Norway’s largest energy producer, Equinor, Katie is enjoying supporting the development of project opportunities across the country.
Katie also has a Master in Law, Policy and Government and has facilitated technical expert panels and community consultative committees. She enjoys building relationships with stakeholders based on trust and respect and is an active mentor of emerging environmental professionals.
Her negotiation and organisation skills are regularly challenged by 3 children, 2 dogs and 3 cats. She loves to sing, travel, scuba dive and hike, and works from home in Perth and from the office in Sydney.
