Education Consultant (Tech She Can) | Founder (ProKryos)
Katie is a Microgravity Research Scientist and CEO/founder of a space medicine company. She is passionate about the use of Low Earth Orbit to benefit those on Earth but is becoming increasingly concerned about its sustainability.
Science: Katie completed her PhD in Nanotechnology at the University of Cambridge, investigating the use of nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery. Before this she completed an internship at NASA looking for signs of life on Mars. Katie rekindled her love for Space after her PhD, attending the International Space University Summer Program before starting her current position.
Outreach: Alongside academic work, Katie has made outreach a priority, presenting science radio, podcasts, television, and producing online content. Katie is a Tech She Can Ambassador, aiming to increase the number of women in tech careers. Her work with Tech She Can saw her create online STEM education resources for children, voicing her namesake in ‘Katie and Tex’ – an award winning education animation series for kids aged 5+, and interviewing and showcasing the amazing stories of inspirational female role models.
Katie is SOOOO excited and honoured to be a part of HB8 and cannot wait to meet and learn alongside the HB8 team!
