Katie is a marine scientist working for the UK Government in fisheries policy. She studied Marine Biology at the University of Southampton at undergraduate and master’s level, where she also completed a PhD and post-doctoral research focusing on methods of tracking marine animal migration and provenance using isotopes.
She was named as one of three global “Women in Science: Ocean Changemakers” by the Economist in 2020 for her work in this area.
Katie has worked as an environmental consultant and currently works as an evidence specialist at the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, supporting policy decision making with a range of evidence sources.
She is a keen traveller and loves to be active outdoors, especially enjoying sea swimming, paddle boarding, and cycling.
