Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Education (Secondary) Coordinator/Lecturer
Katie is a passionate advocate of Social Science education and has extensive teaching experience in both secondary and higher education contexts. She holds a BEd (Hons) and PhD from Edith Cowan University (ECU), with both research projects exploring the dimensions of teaching and student learning of Social Studies and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) at Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) secondary schools.
Katie is currently a lecturer and the HASS Education (Secondary) Co-ordinator in the School of Education at ECU. She oversees the teaching and learning activities related to secondary HASS education in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and postgraduate programs.
Katie believes it is her role to support pre-service and experienced HASS teachers to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, values and world views needed to inform and empower future generations of students to act in ways that promote a fair, equal and sustainable world.
