Katja’s background is in artificial intelligence and computer science. Her application fields include marine science, ecology, robotics, computer vision, language processing, computational biology. She is employed part-time and volunteers the rest of her time to small meaningful conservation projects that cannot afford a data scientist. Katja also runs interactive workshops on climate science and equality and organizes events like climate hackathons. Being closely connected with the Hawaiian culture, she is also interested in issues relevant to indigenous people in academia. Katja is vegan, loves surfing, rock climbing and drumming in a band.
