Katri Harmoinen
Transport Planner at the Bay of Plenty Regional Council
Living in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
Katri is a neuroscientist turned climate policy writer. She has been heavily involved in setting some of the most ambitious climate change targets in Aotearoa New Zealand and is a key driver of change on a local level. Through her work she has learnt that influencing effective climate action often comes from a place of hope and compassion. Her work sees her regularly translate climate science and data into policy and decision-making, strongly influencing what gets passed and implemented on the ground. She grew up part of a minority in Helsinki, Finland but her passion for adventure and the outdoors has led her to the other side of the world where she now lives in the small town of Whakatane in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.
