Kristina is an immunologist researching the immune response to infections of global importance, particularly malaria and COVID-19, as well as cancer. Her laboratory seeks to develop immune-based therapies and vaccines that boost immunity to these deadly diseases. She earned her B.A. from Saint Olaf College and Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
She is passionate about advocating for women in STEMM, especially mothers, and improving the training experience for all scientists.
Apart from her research and advocacy, Kristina enjoys reading, doing triathlons, and gardening; she especially enjoys chasing around her three young children.
