Lauren is a Southern California native growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles. She attended Scripps College receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Fine Arts. Lauren started working at SeaWorld San Diego in the Education and Conservation Department. From there she moved to the Bird Department helping raise penguin chicks and starting her career working with a variety of species of waterfowl, parrots, flamingos, puffins and more penguins. Lauren participated in the Treasure oil spill in 2000; assisting a team of responders in caring for nearly 40,000 penguins including 700 penguin chicks. Lauren has a passion for sharing stories about her work and how everyone can make a difference in preserving our natural world.
