María Jesús is a Geophysicist and MSc student in Meteorology and Climatology at the University of Chile. After graduating in early 2022, she will start her PhD at the International Max Planck Research School on Earth System Modelling (IMPRS-ESM) in Hamburg, Germany. Despite her young age, she has taught about climate change, meteorology, and geophysics at the University of Chile’s summer school for high school students. In addition, María Jesús is an advocate for the climate crisis.
A few months ago, she created her own Instagram profile to speak about climate change and atmospheric sciences in Spanish (@_climary). She also volunteers in several organizations such as The Climate Reality Project, RedLama, Geolatinas, and CEUS Chile. When she is not researching or taking climate action, she loves cooking, reading, learning new languages, and dancing.
