MELANIA GUERRA CARRILLO

She held two Researcher appointments at Cornell University and University of Washington, where her research focused on underwater bio-acoustics, quantifying the effects of noise pollution on marine life. She has participated in many oceanographic expeditions to the Arctic Ocean, which sparked her interest in science diplomacy. She is currently a Nippon Fellow at the Division of Ocean Affairs and Law of the Sea at the United Nations.
