She is active within the global bioinformatics and research infrastructure communities and leads collaborative efforts to develop best practices and infrastructure that support bioinformatics training. With a PhD in Molecular Parasitology, a stint as a scientific curator and international roles in training development, Melissa’s career has enabled her to develop diverse skills and networks in life science research, science communication, community management, training and delivery of research services. She enjoys her role as a Training Manager as it allows her to use these skills and connections to contribute to a larger, coordinated global effort that ultimately empowers breakthrough discoveries in human health, agriculture and biodiversity. Outside of work, Melissa loves to be outdoors gardening, bushwalking and camping. Her creative outlet is sewing and knitting. She considers pockets to be an essential part of any item of clothing.
