Mita earned her PhD in Astronomy from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand and then moved to Australia and into research management. She currently leads the Sydney office of Astronomy Australia Ltd, working with Australia’s astronomers, National Observatories, and the Australian Government to advance the goals of the Australian Astronomy Decadal Plan. Mita believes that many of the large-scale problems humanity is facing would benefit immensely from STEMM-trained leaders effectively communicating and working together with Government and Industry. She aspires to be such a bridge, and is very excited at the opportunity to expand her skill set and networks through the Homeward Bound initiative in support of this goal.
