Dr. Nadine Defranoux, is a scientist, program administrator, photographer and Nature lover. Born and educated in France, she has been working in the dynamic world of start-ups in the Silicon Valley for the last two decades, after relocating to the bay area for her postdoc. Nadine’s broad professional experience extends from basic research to clinical development and diagnosis, in the field of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, immuno-oncology, neuro-immunology and infectious diseases. She has worked in academia, biotech, contract research organization (CRO), and non-for-profit organizations.
Nadine received her PhD in microbiology Magna cum Laude from a joint program between the Pasteur Institute and the University of Paris Diderot (formerly Paris VII), before completing her postdoc in immunology and HIV at the University of California of San Francisco.
Nadine is a natural team builder and team player with a can-do attitude and playful spirit, who values working with people from diverse horizons and line of expertise, and tackling complex problems. She embraces innovation and is bent on seeing passed challenges into what is possible. Nadine is passionate about mentoring aspiring scientists and women, and supporting each other development and well-being.
One of Nadine’s extra-curricular activities, when she is not hiking or taking pictures, is to lead the San Francisco chapter of the Artist Conference Network, which she started in 2015 and whose mission is to support creative people’s visions through peer-to-peer coaching. Nadine’s engagement in Homeward Bound Program is motivated by her desire for playing a more prominent role as an ambassador of science, of women in science, and having a global positive impact.
