Natalie got her BS in Oceanography and her MS in Molecular Ecology and Biotechnology from the University of Baja California (UABC). She earned her PhD in Marine Biology at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, USA. She was a visiting research fellow at the University of Strathclyde where she worked on the isolation of actinobacteria from sediment cores from Antarctic and Arctic collections. Since 2016, she is an associate professor at UABC working on bacterial genomics and marine natural products. She loves to isolate bacteria and to motivate her students to enjoy science and to take care of our planet.
