Nichola works at the intersection of science, policy, and law at the Pew Charitable Trusts where she follows the negotiations at the United Nations for a new international treaty to protect the high seas. She is fascinated by the complex systems that govern the international ocean and is passionate about working to enable science-driven ocean governance that leads to a more equitable world. Nichola is also a PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong, where her research focuses on institutional arrangements for the High Seas Treaty. She holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from Duke University.
