Rachel is passionate about combating climate change and inequality. She has a wide variety of working experience, such as being a climate change researcher at The University of Auckland. Rachel has worked in advocacy as a youth delegate to the United Nations Climate Change Negotiations. She has been trained to provide science-based policy recommendations by New Zealand’s Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor. She is also starting her own business, in which she will run outdoor education and science (both mainstream and Mātauranga Māori science) programs for high-school girls in New Zealand with the goal of encouraging them into STEMM careers.
