Rebecca Handcock is a Spatial Data Scientist with a PhD in Geography. She enjoys visualising patterns in data and communicating the stories they tell about people and the environment. Rebecca’s broad research interests range from using satellite remote sensing and sensor networks to monitor agriculture and water, to using big data to study diversity in research publications. She has held research positions within CSIRO and the academic sector and currently works as a Senior Data Scientist. Her role focuses on data analytics and visualisation of large datasets, and translating between the technical and applied sides of projects. She is enthusiastic about support and mentorship for women in STEMM disciplines. Through Homeward Bound Rebecca wishes to use her skills to communicate the challenges we face as a planet and empower others to help make a difference.
