Saffron is a researcher with a passion for bringing science ‘to the real world’, by finding applications for her work. Her expertise lies at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and physics which she leverages to bring new perspectives to old problems. Saffron completed her PhD at The University of Sydney before carrying out a postdoc position at The University of Bath. She subsequently returned to Australia and took up a research position at RMIT University where she is exploring advanced materials for applications including cryopreservation, drug delivery, and wound healing.
Other than science, Saffron has a passion for painting, travel and curling up with a good book. She has also published more than 30 science fiction and fantasy novels which she uses to explore contemporary issues in a fun and engaging way.
