Dr Sandra Guzman Luna

Sandra Guzmán is a specialist in climate finance, low carbon and sustainable development. She is Founder and General Director of the Climate Finance Group for Latin America and the Caribbean (GFLAC). She has a PhD in Politics from the University of York at the United Kingdom. Sandra has a specialty in Sustainable Finance from the University of Oxford and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is a specialist in energy and environmental policy and management from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) and has a degree in International Relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She was General Director of Climate Change Policies at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico, SEMARNAT. She is the first Mexican to be selected in the Homeward Bound, a project on Strengthening Women in Science with whom she visited Antarctica to document the Impacts of Climate Change in this territory. She was awarded by Marie Claire magazine as the intellectual (Le Geek C’est Chic) of the year in 2018 and was named one of the 34 “Change-makers” of the Chevening scholarships, being one of the two Mexican women awarded. She was awarded as one of the 30 most sustainable minds in Mexico in 2023.
Sandra loves dancing, swimming, watching movies and travel around the world with her husband, her 9 years old son and their dog Lucky. She firmly believes in the power of women.
