Western Australia, Australia
Sandra (26 years’ old) is a PhD candidate from the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology, at the University of Western Australia. Her research investigates how plants adjust their metabolism in response to changing temperatures, in particular cold stress. With such knowledge, Sandra hopes to contribute to the global effort to produce crop plants that thrive in future changing climates. Sandra aspires to lead her own research team in the future. Although just 15% of top-level scientists are women, Sandra hopes to changes these trends through her participation in Homeward Bound.
