Shawna Foo
(She/Her)
Research Fellow
Shawna Foo is a marine scientist interested in factors that increase the resilience of marine ecosystems to climate change. After completing her PhD in 2016, Shawna worked in Italy and the US, where she used natural seawater carbon dioxide vents as windows into the future for studying the effects of ocean acidification and remote sensing techniques to study coral reefs.
Currently, Shawna is a 2022 ARC DECRA and Westpac Research Fellow at The University of Sydney studying corals inhabiting marginal environments to gain an understanding of how they might adapt to climate stress.
Shawna is excited to be a part of HB8 to ensure she can be the best leader as possible for her growing team, as well as gaining confidence and overcoming a little bit of that imposter syndrome.
