Shumaila has recently submitted her PhD thesis at Charles Sturt University and her project was to investigate epidemiology of brucellosis in smallholder farming systems in Pakistan. She is starting her new role as a postdoctoral with an ACIAR (Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research) funded project in Pakistan on goat health and production. She graduated from the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan, with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and followed with a PhD (in progress) from Charles Sturt University, Australia. Shumaila has keen interest in infectious disease control, zoonoses, One Health and climate change impact on infectious diseases.
