SIOBHAN HEATWOLE

PhD student, University of Wollongong
NSW, Australia, Australian
Siobhan specialises in marine ecology and animal behaviour. She completed a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (Honours) at the Australian National University, which allowed her to pursue her diverse interests in learning about different cultures, learning other languages and doing biological research. Siobhan has worked in policy development roles for Australian government agencies, as a marine researcher at universities in Australia and Taiwan, and at a conservation organisation in Indonesia. Her recent projects have examined the resilience of coral reefs to human disturbances, and the effectiveness of coral reef restoration. She is now doing a PhD at the University of Wollongong, studying the evolution and variability of social behaviour in anemonefishes. When she’s not underwater, you’ll likely find her hiking, snowboarding or sharing a meal with friends.
