Susan is an award-winning Electrical and Mechanical Engineer with over 11 years of experience in designing and overseeing major engineering infrastructure programs in the power, utilities and renewables sector. She is the Energy Transition Lead within Deloitte’s Net Zero Transformation Strategy team. She applies her industry experience and insights to help clients develop their net zero strategies, transform their business models and use innovation and technology to support their energy transition.
Susan joined Deloitte in 2016, after six years at National Grid, an international electricity and gas utility company. Amongst her responsibilities there, Susan led on the coordination of 12 of the UK’s Offshore Wind Projects. She is an ambassador for the Royal Academy of Engineering, Queen Elizabeth Prize which helps promote engineering globally, and is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and Women‚ Engineering Society. Susan received her Electrical and Mechanical Engineering degree with Distinction from the University of Strathclyde.
In 2021, Susan was selected as a Top 100 Tech Women UK 2021 Award winner. In addition, in 2021 Susan became an NHS Test Trace Unsung Hero for delivering a more inclusive National COVID-19 testing service, and separately recognised through an NHS Test Living Our Values commendation for improving home testing accessibility. Other professional recognition she has received includes: Women Powering Smart Energy Engineering Award, 2020; featured as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering, 2017; Management Today‚ 35 Women under 35 list, 2017; and the EY and Energy UK Young Energy Professional of the Year, 2015.
