Tayyaba’s astronomical research focuses on gas and metals in distant galaxies. She grew up in Pakistan with an interest in Physics, and later did an Astronomy doctorate from Denmark. Thereafter, she did a postdoc in France and another at the European Southern Observatory (ESO), Germany. At ESO, she had an amazing experience working with 8-metre telescopes located in the Chilean desert. Tayyaba is currently at the AAO, supporting instruments at the 4-metre telescope. She has found immense flexibility and support as a single mother at the AAO . She is proud to be part of HB19 embodying science, gender equality, leadership, and a trip to Antarctica!
